After being unfortunately, and regrettably, MIA last week, I'm back to work. This week, we're going to be making website slideshows. Always interesting when I've come across them, and especially useful for visual lists. I've decided to use my own photos, but I'm torn between pictures of Hawaii (from my trip), or pictures from some of the shows I've worked at the Convention Center (auto/motorcycle/AwesomeCon)
A little help with the photo APA citings would be appreciated as well.
Although I added the ability to change the language of the page last week, I haven't made any changes to the blog this week. I prefer the simpler sites, and I actually like it the way it is. Maybe I'll find something to add/subtract later on (in the week/month).

Adventures in Hawaii
So, I've seen the occasional personal post along with the class posts, and I thought I'd join in the fun. I recently went to Hawaii (before the volcano) to visit my sister, who'd just had her second child. It was awesome, and I was nearly in tears when I had to come back. I caught up with my sister and her husband, played with the baby and grew dinosaurs out of Easter eggs. Although a rainy day did curtail some adventures, I had a great time with the snorkeling and the luau and the general hanging out anyway.

Cascading Styles
It's week 2, and we're learning about cascading styles. Formatting the background and fonts and such of the text on the webpage. We've got embedded css, which is written directly into the .html file and external css, which is written on a separate file and linked into the .html file. For the moments when you only want to apply style to a single instance of an element, there are inline styles, which is also embedded.
In our lab, we're experimenting these options. I'm thankfully about half done, as evidenced below

Hello out there!
My name is Mekea, and this is my first, and probably only, blog. I'm a Security Officer for Events, mostly at Convention Centers and Hotels, so my schedule can get really crazy at times. Happily single with blessedly no kids, I am the proud aunt of four, with the most recent being only a month old.
I've done some dabbling on creating webpages. Never for any reason, just to try it, but this will be the first time really getting into it, so I'm kinda looking forward to it. Or I would have been if the first lab we had to do hadn't been about myself.
I've been on computers long enough to have typed out and printed my math homework on MS-DOS (don't judge me), and I haven't really taken my fingers off of a keyboard in nearly 20 years.
I started DeVry as an EET student, as I have always enjoyed building my own desktops, but unfortunately had to switch programs when EET was shut down.
I love to read, and have gotten sucked into the world of fanfiction. For those that don't know, that's when regular people write their own stories about their favorite tv shows, movies, books, etc. Although it's primarily a platform for preferential pairings (hah, say that five times fast), some of the stories are really very good, and have actually been published with some alterations.
